In the past few years companies (not only Nikon) have been avoiding the word “recall” and have been using words like “service advisory“, “service notice“, etc to describe issues that need to be addressed. Maybe I do not understand the difference and will continue to call this a recall – feel free to correct me in the comments section.

Customers using the Z 9 mirrorless camera have pointed out that sometimes the interchangeable lens or mount adapter cannot be rotated and removed even when the lens release button is pressed.

As a result of our investigation, we discovered that some Z 9s were equipped with parts that did not meet our quality standards. We have identified a range of “Z 9” product numbers that may have incorporated this part, and would like to inform you about our response. Regardless of the warranty period, we will replace parts for the target product free of charge. We will bear the return shipping fee. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact the service organization.

How to check the target product

To check if your product is eligible, please click “Confirm product number” and enter your “Z 9” product number according to the displayed instructions. Depending on the results of matching the entered product number, if the product is applicable, the method of acceptance will be displayed. If it is not a target product, please feel free to use it.
