Dear LEICA friends,
We will be 135 years old in October. Over 50 years of this alone have been dedicated to Leica. Started in 1971 as “Leica Meister” with an annual turnover of 10,000 DM, we have expanded the business to this day. We opened the first Leica store in the Eppendorf district of Hamburg, the second, for the first time in the official black and red Leica design, in Berlin and – all good things come in threes – most recently the opening of the Leica store in Munich. Stopovers included the Stilwerk Hamburg, the traditional optician Campbell on Neuer Wall and of course the KaDeWE.
Everything has its time and every time comes to an end. 135 years after founding the “MEISTER drugstore” in 1888, from which today’s “MEISTER CAMERA” emerged, I decided to sell my business to Leica Camera Deutschland GmbH on November 1st of this year. A decision that was definitely not easy for me, but it has complex reasons.
The traditional manufacturer Leica Camera, with its extensive experience with its own Leica stores, offers a safe haven in uncertain times for individual companies. Please pass on to Leica the trust you have placed in me and my employees over the past few years. At least that would be my wish!
I would like to thank you today for your long-term, sometimes cross-generational loyalty, for all your purchases and the conversations you have had. You have helped shape the MEISTER history and contributed significantly to its success.
