Here is a quick review of the Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 Dragonfly lens for Nikon F-mount with sample photos by Arkadii Shapoval (blog | 500px | see also his previous NR posts):


Pros:

  • extremely sharp lens
  • excellent correction of lateral and longitudinal chromatic aberration
  • no visible distortion
  • nice bokeh
  • internal focus
  • max. magnification 1:1
  • weather-sealing
  • nice focus ring + focus lock ring
  • CPU-contacts
  • tripod collar and lens hood included
  • 11 rounded aperture blades
  • 3 ED and 4 high refractive-index elements

Cons:

  • vignetting −1.5 EV at F/2.8 in the frame corners
  • flare and ghosts against bright light
  • no image stabilization
  • difficult focusing in a range from infinity to 3 meters
  • lens doesn’t fit to Nikon D3xxx and D5xxx series (due to built-in flash)
