It will be interesting see if anyone makes an APS-C L Mount camera other than Leica with the TL / SL. I doubt it since Panasonic have m4/3 and Sigma probably wouldn't think it worth their while. Incidentally those APS-C lenses are superb for 4K video on the SL and they get over the problem with the cropped sensor.

There are lot's of advantages that m4/3 has over APS-C. The ability to make smaller, lighter and usually cheaper gear. The DOF advantage and the fact that it's a well established system. Panasonic would be crazy to throw away everything they have with m4/3 for an APS-C system. You may not like m4/3 but I and lot's of others do. It's far from a dead end street and has been the catalyst for change in the photographic world for many years now.

Has nothing to do with like/dislike.
This is our new L-Mount Forum and I can't imagine that Panasonic will implement mFT Sensors inside ;)
But APS-C might be. Lenses or lens support will be availible from Leica and Sigma.
They are still availible today!

It will be interesting to see, if Sigma is going to add L-Mount to their existing APS-C lenses

Why on earth would Panasonic introduce an APS-C range? Why would Sigma make L Mount APS-C lenses. They haven't even finished (or announced) their FF cameras yet! Personally I would see APS-C as being a dead end street, it's neither one thing or the other. m4/3 is smaller and different enough to be viable for some time to come. APS-C is also not that much bigger in sensor size than m4/3 and Panasonic have no history with it. I agree there will be no L Mount m4/3, but I think Panasonic want to concentrate on FF since they have a pretty comprehensive m4/3 system. Sigma are also a relatively small company and it's doubtful whether they have the capacity for yet another range of lenses. Those that have a significant investment in APS-C, such as Fuji, Canon, Nikon and Sony will still see some mileage for the format, the last three particularly at the budget end of the market. Sigma have already said that they are stopping making their 1.6x and 1.3x crop SA cameras and going for FF, which would make sense with the Foveon sensor. There are already too many cameras chasing a diminishing amount of customers. Surely the way forward for camera manufacturers is to concentrate on the high(er) end of the market. And to actually generate some excitement into a marketplace that has been stagnating for years, which hasn't helped the sales figure. I think that's why Panasonic initiated the L Mount 'Alliance' and it's certainly got the photographic internet buzzing again. Surely APS-C is a step back and quite frankly boring and a bit of a distraction.

I thought I read somewhere amongst the various Photokina reports that Sigma would be converting some of their existing lenses to 'L' mount. If they are full frame lenses then they will surely work satisfactorily on APC sensor cameras.

There is a market for Sigma APS-C ART lenses with M-Mount!
Actually with Leica TL/CL bodies and in the future with possible L-Mount APS-C Boies from the others.
Don't forget that APS-C is overall still a huge market, much much bigger than"your" mFT system.
Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sony, Pentax ...

Yes, FF is the intention for Panasonic since years!
But they need both FF and a smaller system which can be APS-C, as there are still APS-C L-Mount systems in the market.
The biggest advantage for Panasonic would be to offer and service only one Mount!

But again, this is a L-Mount platform and mft discussion have no impact or any value here.

Yes, an it might be that they convert the Foveon system to L APS-C first, if it takes mor time to develop a FF Foveon Body.
And then they need lenses....

As they told the world during Photokina, they thought about it since 8 years and planned the alliance since 2 years.

Panasonic didn't have a hisoty with FF too and now they do it.
The next logical step is to offer APS-C in L-Mount - Should be very easy for them and the alliance partner Leica shows them the way.

There is abolutely no reason not to bring L-Mount APS-C for cheaper and smaller systems.

Well if you believe that then fine. Let's come back in 5 years time and find out who's right.

There was a survey about if m4/3 will be dying on DPReview. Over 50% people said NO.
