Of course, the picture they used is fake – it is a Nikon Z6 III mockup I posted last year:

I believe the other mockup I posted online is a much more accurate reproduction of the upcoming Z6 III:

Now, how about those specs coming from China? You can see that they are clearly a copy of what I have been reporting online for months now – here are all the rumored Nikon Z6 III camera specifications I have posted so far:

Nikon Z6 III rumors from [NR] sources

  • Nikon model N2214

  • CFexpress+SD memory cards
  • PSAM Dial
  • Hybrid body design between the Z6 and Z8 (bigger than the current Z6/7 but smaller than the Z8) – see this post
  • Camera body size and overall dimension are similar to the Nikon Z6II: 3-5mm longer width becuase of the LCD hinge and a few mm thicker
  • The overall height (bottom to the EVF) remains the same but the actual camera is 2-3mm taller
  • The grip button layouts and design look similar to the Nikon Z8 apart from the command dial which is the same as the Z6II
  • All other button layouts are the same as the Z6II
  • The Z6III logo is on the top, just like on the Z8/Z9
  • Z logo in the front is also like the Z8 but below the current Z6II focus sensor
  • The Z6III body overall is about 30-40g heavier than the Z6II
  • The Z6III body inherits the design from the Z8 – this is why a few months ago I reported it as a mini-Z8 (the Nikon Z6III is a mini Z8, the Nikon Z8 was a mini Z9)
  • Better ergonomics compared to the Z6
  • Battery EN-EL15
  • A few other features from Z8 and Zf are also coming to Z6III but I do not have the details yet
  • Nikon MB-N14 battery pack
  • Nikon Z6III expected in early 2024 (in Q1, between January and April)

Nikon Z6 III rumors from China

  • Nikon ℤ 6 Ⅲ (N2214)
  • accelerated FX frame 24.5 Megapixels BSI CMOS Sensor
  • EXPEED 7 processor
  • inherited from ℤ 8 style body
  • easy-to-use multi-angle LCD screen, high-brightness EVF
  • optimized body feel
  • 7-level IBIS, but better than ℤ f has optimized video stabilization,
  • pixel shift, and high-resolution photography
  • dual data stream AF system. The updated focus algorithm and process are stronger than ℤ f and ℤ 8.
  • FX frame electronic shutter continuous shooting of up to 40fps and DX frame electronic shutter continuous shooting of 120fps. Shoot
  • 6K/60p & 4K/120p 12Bit N-RAW and record
  • 4K H.265 10Bit MOV video, which can oversample 6K to 4K FX frame, or up to 120p DX frame.

  • supports WiFi 2.4/5 GHz, Bluetooth LE Connect
  • USB-C fast charging & HDMI Type-A connection
  • The Nikon brochures for the CP+ show have already been printed and there is a new camera

Nikon Z6 III rumors from a reader

  • Nikon Z6 III price: $2,999 launch price
  • New Fast Stacked sensor specialized for low light and high dynamic range video.
  • 6k 60p no crop full readout
  • 4k 120p no crop full readout
  • 4k 24/30/60 over-sampled from 6k
  • Full HD 180-240p no crop
  • Great Dynamic Range
  • Great Low Light similar to A7S III at 12,800.
  • Sony like auto-focus – better than Z8 with less AF points
  • Better IBIS especially in video – Panasonic S5IIx like
  • New cooling design 50% chance to have fan a like Panasonic
  • Larger body than Z6 by 10-15%

So, the conclusion is: don’t believe everything you read online. Here is another example: the Leica D-Lux 8 camera will never have an APS-C sensor with a fixed prime lens.

Do you remember the recent Nikon Zh rumors? They disappeared faster than they appeared online… all the blog posts, YouTube videos, social media posts – all gone. Only the clicks are left which is all that matters for some websites.
