Why on earth would Panasonic introduce an APS-C range? Why would Sigma make L Mount APS-C lenses. They haven't even finished (or announced) their FF cameras yet! Personally I would see APS-C as being a dead end street, it's neither one thing or the other. m4/3 is smaller and different enough to be viable for some time to come. APS-C is also not that much bigger in sensor size than m4/3 and Panasonic have no history with it. I agree there will be no L Mount m4/3, but I think Panasonic want to concentrate on FF since they have a pretty comprehensive m4/3 system. Sigma are also a relatively small company and it's doubtful whether they have the capacity for yet another range of lenses. Those that have a significant investment in APS-C, such as Fuji, Canon, Nikon and Sony will still see some mileage for the format, the last three particularly at the budget end of the market. Sigma have already said that they are stopping making their 1.6x and 1.3x crop SA cameras and going for FF, which would make sense with the Foveon sensor. There are already too many cameras chasing a diminishing amount of customers. Surely the way forward for camera manufacturers is to concentrate on the high(er) end of the market. And to actually generate some excitement into a marketplace that has been stagnating for years, which hasn't helped the sales figure. I think that's why Panasonic initiated the L Mount 'Alliance' and it's certainly got the photographic internet buzzing again. Surely APS-C is a step back and quite frankly boring and a bit of a distraction.
